The skeletal system is the 'set of bones, cartilage and joints of the body.
The bones are formed by two particular connective tissues: the bone mass is formed by a strip in which contains some special cells called osteocytes, which are distributed concentrically around a thin channels, the channels of Havers in which blood vessels pass.
The bone is divided into two categories:

spongy bone tissue, in which thin strips intersect each other defining small cavities in which there is bone marrow;

The compact bone tissue, in which the slats are close to each other
The cartilage tissue or cartilage is formed by a dense intercellular substance and very rich collagen, which are surrounded by groups of spherical cells called chondrocytes. This fabric is not crossed by blood vessels and nerves, accounting for 60% water. The bones are divided into three categories:

The flat bones are mainly developed in length and width, with a relatively smaller thickness. They consist of two layers of compact bone tissue in which a layer of more or less spongy bone.

The skeleton of the trunk is formed by:

spine: a set of vertebrae connected by an intervertebral disc. Each vertebra consists of the vertebral body and an arched back, the 'vertebral arch. It starts two calls transverse and spinal apophyses. Among the 'arch and vertebral body there is a hole, the hole in the spine, which, together with other fora, forms the spinal canal to' what goes inside of the spinal cord. The spine is divided into: cervical, dorsal or thoracic, lumbar, sacral, and coccygeal.

The rib cage protects the heart and other major organs of the body. The last two are called floating ribs because they do not join anything.
The skeleton of the limbs, finally, is divided into;:

skeleton of the upper limbs: attaches to the skeleton of the trunk by means of two flat bones: the scapula and clavicle, which, together, form the shoulder girdle.

Skeleton of lower limbs: is joined to the skeleton of the trunk by three bones: the 'ilium 's ischium and pubis, which together form the pelvic girdle, or pelvis. In 'adult pelvis is joined into a single bone.
