debts amounted to 31 million

The University of Palermo has debts of over € 31 million to be included in the budget 2009. The estimate is from Price Waterhouse, the firm appointed by the University of sifting through more than 30 000 accounting positions. The debts are not transferred to the departments related to 9 million euro, executive judgments in relation to legal proceedings for about 1 million euro purchase of goods and services that are not immediately accounted for 9 million euro and requirements to re-budget sums aimed for 11 million euro. "The checks carried out on receipts and payments and accruals for waste - said the rector Roberto Lagalla - in fiscal years 2008 and 2009 (until June 30) revealed no problems or anomalies. The deficit began in 2003 to poor processes administrative and management that we are developing. The university, however, is healthy with respect to malpractice of any kind ". The debts of the University of Palermo will be covered in part by tax increases (but the last, "he assured Lagalla), some with cuts to the counties, to degree courses (which fell 22% compared to last year) and stop the turn over of staff. The university also expects to recover about ten million from the sale of property, including the building of Via Pascoli, which will be auctioned separately by December.
